Necessary conditions for integrating a fireplace in the house

To equip your own house with a fireplace you need to consider some factors. There are, in fact, necessary conditions for law that cannot be ignored, let us see them together.

  1. Regulations and permits - first of all, you need to check the national, regional and municipal regulations and the permits to be obtained. Among the main criteria to be considered are: resistance to temperatures, distance from other flammable materials, type of discharge on the roof and possible changes in the house perspective;

  2. The dimensions and flue - to the size of the fireplace corresponds proportionally that of the flue. This may already be present or to be realized. In the first case, it will be sufficient to adapt the fireplace to the size of the existing flue. If there is no smoke outlet, it should be made masonry. They require municipal approvals and permits;

  3. The type of dwelling and fireplace - especially in apartment buildings, the installation of a fireplace may require condominium permits. In addition to the administrator’s consent, you will also need the consent of the municipality. This is because in some regions wood burning fireplaces are banned for pollution reasons.

Alternatives to the fireplace

As we have seen, there are several reasons that could prevent you from installing a flue. These could be construction bans or missing municipal/condominium permits. In any case, there are good alternatives that will allow you to enjoy the fireplace of your dreams anyway. With bio-fireplaces and water-powered electric stoves it is possible to recreate the decorative effect of combustion without the need for a flue. They are easy to install and require minimal maintenance.

  1. Biocamino - fireplace-shaped stove that uses bioethanol, liquid fuel, to heat the environment. It has a burner and a tank in which to insert the liquid. Heats rooms from 15 to 20 sqm;

  2. An electric water fireplace - its strength is the ability to recreate the realistic effect of flames, in this case illuminated by LED lights. To do this, it uses an advanced technology that by the spraying of water generates the effect "cold flame".
